Quinton House Global Ambassadors group alongside our Director of Sixth Form, Mr Chris George, had the vision of bringing schools across Northampton together to discuss the major topics that resonate with them, alongside guest speakers who are in the position to make a change.
On Friday last week that vision came to fruition at the University of Northampton.
Head Boy Jack B lead the day with presentations by key Northampton figures from Northamptonshire Police, Northampton Hope Centre, MP Andrew Lewer & West Northamptonshire Council.
Each presentation was followed by round table discussions amongst the students who collaboratively structured this 4 point charter, presented to the Chair of West Northamptonshire Council, Cllr John Shephard.
One of the most powerful sessions of the day was by the Northampton Hope Centre & their guest who shared his first hand experiences of county lines, the real dangers involved & the gravity of the consequences that could be faced due to an involvement with these gangs. It was a truly moving experience to hear how his life had been effected, but how now, through Northampton Hope Centre, he is using his experiences to educate others against the dangers.
The day wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our generous sponsors & of course the schools who agreed to attend.
We intend for this to become an annual event, with the topic chosen by the students & hope to lead to real change for the town.
